Dear Parent

Thank you for your interest in Teign School.  The school was recognised in 2008 by the Specialist Schools and Academies Trust for its high performance at GCSE and its value added score.  In our OFSTED inspection in March 2009 the school was rated as good with outstanding features.  This year Teign was awarded the Investors in Careers Award to add to the Investors in Work Related Learning & Enterprise Award and the Devon’s Healthy Schools Award.

The school is heavily over-subscribed and this creates difficulties for everyone.  We would be delighted to accept every applicant but we cannot.  If you live outside our catchment area the chances of your application being successful are not good.  The number of pupil places available for Year 7 students starting at Teign School in September 2010 is 232.  Last year 14 admission appeals were heard by the Independent Appeals Panel, and three were successful.

Transferring to secondary education is a big decision, and I have every confidence that most Devon schools provide a high quality secondary experience.  If your application to Teign is successful, then you can be assured of a good level of support and quality experience.

Yours faithfully
