Students from September 2008 can choose to study GCSE Science and GCSE Environmental and Land Based Science.

The course involves studying the science behind the way the countryside is managed from forestry to farming to horticulture.

GCSE Environmental and Land Based Science

Students are studying the theory and skills behind small animal care. We now have a selection of animals loaned to us by Newton Abbot Pet, Reptile and Aquatic Centre which the students care for on a daily basis. We currently have Tropical Fish, Gerbils, Stick Insects and a Bearded Dragon.

The students will be growing bedding plants, vegetables and keeping hens on the new school farm site which is being developed with support from WBB Minerals.

On a recent field trip to Dawlish Warren and Haldon Forest students were given the chance learn and demonstrate practical skills in gathering data about different habitats.

This course has a strong practical theme and encourages the principles of teamwork and responsibility.
